Valerian bushes of pink-purple colour flowers, When the Valerian plant has been dried, the root (from latin valere which means "to be well") contains an essential oil and valepotriates (valtrate and isovaltrate) which both have a very effective and gentle sedative action.

Valerian is used with great success for insomnia, anxiety and anguish, but without causing any addiction or drowsiness during the day.

It can also be used to help smokers give up the habit as it prevents feelings of nervousness and gives tobacco an unpleasant taste.

Can complement the treatment of epileptics

Not recommended for patients with liver impairment or on other medication known to have potential for liver toxicity or induction of liver enzymes.
